About Us


The practice of Heppenstalls was established in 1946 by Noel Heppenstall previously a partner in a firm of Architects established in Milnsbridge in 1890.

Since the early 1950’s there has been a number of succeeding Architect and Surveyor partners. After 41 years the partnership incorporated into a company and the firm is now managed by Andrew Coldwell an RIBA Chartered Architect who joined the practice in 2000 becoming a Director in 2006.

The practice has completed well in excess of 5,000 projects, many in the West Yorkshire area, in a wide and diverse portfolio. The majority of the practice workload is carried out on a full service basis offering initial land and building surveys, feasibility studies and budget costs, planning and development advice, detailed design, specification and quantities with construction and project management up to project completion and building handover.

The consultancy team is familiar with the various methods of procurement with both traditional and design and build contracts acting in various roles and in a varied number of projects depending on the method of procurement including Employers Agent / Lead Designer preparing scheme designs and Employers Requirements.
